Regency initially sought a migration partner to provide product knowledge, best business practices, implementation migration services, and ongoing Enhanced Support services to assist with their migration from M-Files Cloud to M-Files on-premise. TEAM IM was identified as a highly experienced M-Files partner and assisted Regency in a successful migration from the cloud to an on-premise version of the software. Subsequent to the successful M-Files migration, Regency reached out to TEAM IM for assistance in migrating their existing SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2019 with the upcoming end-of-life date for the 2010 version approaching.

Project Details

Upgrading SharePoint from 2010 to 2019 can be a challenge since there is no direct upgrade path between the versions. TEAM IM took on the challenge of being able to upgrade both simple and complex sites quickly and were able to accommodate changes with SharePoint 2019 best practices while maintaining the look and feel of the original SharePoint 2010 sites. TEAM IM also worked to streamline the overall hierarchy of the SharePoint sites to make it easier for users to navigate as well as maintaining some of the legacy permissions for access.

Regency Centers required analysis and migration of approximately 35 SharePoint sites from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2019. This consisted of analysis of the refined site list provided by Regency, prioritization of sites to be reviewed and migrated, configuration/development, assistance with content migration, aid with user acceptance, training and go-live, and completion of the migration prior to April 2021.

After the initial analysis and completion of the technical architecture design, TEAM IM recommended utilizing an agile multiple sprint approach toward the migration of SharePoint sites. TEAM IM worked in partnership with Regency resources, including the migration of content through two development (Agile) work sprints. This included:

• Completion of a discovery analysis on the prioritized SharePoint site list

• Providing feedback on initial analysis and updated timeline to complete the migration

• Completing the Technical Architecture Design document

• Installation/Configuration and testing of the SharePoint 2019 server based on the output of the technical architecture design document

• Completing content migration of selected SharePoint simple sites through Sprint 1

• Completing content migration of identified complex SharePoint sites through Sprint 2

• Assisting Regency with additional requirements like content migration of other sites, user training, user acceptance testing, go-live, and ongoing enhanced support

TEAM IM’s SharePoint knowledge, approach, and best practices worked in concert with Regency resources to ensure a successful migration and user adoption of SharePoint 2019.
