Customer Background
With around 2,800 employees in 17 offices across Texas, The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is the environmental agency for the state of Texas.
TCEQ’s responsibilities to the citizens of Texas include protecting public health and natural resources in order to maintain sustainable economic growth without sacrificing clean air, water, or safe waste management.
TCEQ works with Deloitte to handle many of its technological needs and Deloitte, in turn, has established a long-term relationship with TEAM IM. It is through that relationship that TEAM IM was brought into this content migration and software upgrading project.
Project Details
Due to TEAM IM’s decades of experience with Oracle WebCenter and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Deloitte chose to secure our services to assist TCEQ. The client had decided to switch their existing Oracle WebCenter Content and its related platforms from an on-premises service provider to OCI.
Several factors played into TCEQ’s decision to switch to OCI. First, the continuing evolution of cloud computing technology provided for increased computing power and expandable storage while resulting in potential cost savings for the citizens of Texas. Second, a focus on long-term stability which OCI could provide factored strongly.
TEAM IM was able to manage this project smoothly and efficiently thanks to our previous relationship with Deloitte and TCEQ, as well as our long history with Oracle’s suite of programs and applications.
Thanks to that expertise with Oracle, TEAM IM was able to recognize flaws in initial batch tests when migrating content with WebCenter’s Archiver and Oracle’s Storage Gateway. Instead a “lift and shift” strategy was then embraced, which allowed for TCEQ’s entire system (instead of migrating only their content) to be copied over and upgraded once running in OCI.
TEAM IM then incorporated Oracle Elasticsearch to improve the speed and accuracy of search functions across all of TCEQ’s content.
This approach to migrating, installing, and upgrading has led to a continued WebCenter Content development and support relationship between TCEQ and TEAM IM.
We’re incredibly proud to support our partner, TCEQ, through this evolution to the Oracle Cloud, helping to ensure that the people of Texas continue to have fast, secure, reliable access to the important materials that TCEQ manages.
